Anyone recommend Better alternatives that are more cost effective?
Answer: No. There really is nothing better. There are no chemicals in these sawdust and paraffin sticks. You can get wax starters or lighter fluid much cheaper but that simply is not a viable solution in my book. I use the Primo ceramic grill so the newspaper/oil option is not practical. I did that in the past when i used a charcoal chimney but since I like to strategically place my large chunks of lump for a number of specific needs, I don't want to be dumping hot coals into the chamber. I realize that an average start (two sticks in my case) can cost about 90 cents and since I grill at least 3 times per week, it can add up but in reality, I just figure that is the cost of a good grilling session. -
