The AS3935 I2C SPI Lightning Sensor has received mixed reviews from customers. Some customers have reported that the i2c support is completely broken and that the breakout never detected any lightning even though data was exchanged and recognized by arduino. Others have found that the sensor works like a champ and have had success using it with Arduino or RPI after reading the documentation on the AS3935 chip to fully understand it. However, some customers have reported that it does not work using the i2C connection and would only work in SPI mode. Additionally, the cost is reported to be high and it is not recommended by some customers due to the lack of calibration code and documentation. It is suggested to skip this product and look for one from Embedded Adventures.
